Over a period of 9 years, Open Door Charity has grown significantly to establish itself as one of the largest independent providers of talking therapies in Merseyside. Additionally, it has gained a reputation as one of the most innovative and forward-thinking organisations of its type in the United Kingdom, receiving the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in the 2019 Honours List.
About Open Door Charity
Open Door have created a space that is designed by young people, for young people. One that really understands and reflects the perspective of being a young person in these modern times.
They prioritise building upon lived experience across all staff, Peer Mentors, Trustees and partners. Working from a position of knowledge, compassion and trust. Along with a deep understanding of the lived experience of poor mental health and the skills, knowledge and interventions needed to change it right now.
The Bazaar program blends elements of CBT, Mindfulness and more to help young people and young adults aged 17-35 understand their mind. Training skills, tools and techniques to support yourself now and in the future.
The flagship space within the ODC campus. Bloom Building is Merseyside’s most colourful building, an immersive environment that reimagines how the worlds of mental health, social action, arts, culture and community can coexist.
Opportunities to Scale Impact
Open Door is focused on the importance of providing effective care to their clients, and to achieve this, they have a team of trained peer mentors who work with clients to provide emotional and practical support.
As they grew they realised they needed extra tools to manage their numerous Peer Mentors effectively and gather more data on their effectiveness and client engagement. So they partnered with Tacklit to utilise our Amplify modules to provide care co-ordination tools and advanced analytics.
“Our experience so far with Tacklit has been incredible. They completely understand the ethos of Open Door and our mission to use music, art and culture as a catalyst for change in Mental Health. Not only does Tacklit streamline our processes, but it enhances and our core offer, Bazaar and the impact this intervention provides to our community. ”

Each Mentor can access a secure, customised portal to manage their mentee sessions, and provide feedback post on what was discussed. These can trigger alerts if there is anything that needs to be escalated to the ODC team.
Additionally, Amplify has provided Open Door with a way to track their clients' engagement and progress. By integrating triage, progress and outcome measures and surveys into the Bazaar program, the platform offers analytics and insights that help the organization to understand the impact of their care program better. This has enabled them to make data-driven decisions and continuously report on and improve their care program's effectiveness.
Integrated measures into the Bazaar program mean capturing insight at scale. ODC gather feedback loops from Mentors and Mentees in each session, so they know what is happening throughout each clients journey.
The Future
Open Door are partnering with new community organisations and universities to scale the Bazaar program to even more people who can benefit. This rollout, using the scaffolding that the Tacklit platform provides, means they can ensure the quality and effectiveness of the program remains very high.
The program continues to get recognition for its positive impact. Including through a recent visit by the Prince and Princess of Wales…
